Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Coordinator, or designate, and working primarily with Hand Therapy patients/clients, the Certified Hand Therapy (CHT) Occupational Therapist assesses, treats, educates and manages patients/clients receiving physical therapy services and utilizes comprehensive knowledge and specialized skills to promote the prevention of dysfunction, restoration of function and/or reversal of pathology relating to the upper quarter, body function and activity.
Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy. Current practicing full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). Certification in Hand Therapy. Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice. Valid BC Driver's License. Travel is a requirement of the position. Travel arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the program.
