If you're interested in volunteering for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, read on. Here are some things to consider before deciding if this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is right for you.

We're looking for volunteers who are available before, during and after the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. We encourage everyone to apply, but please keep in mind that the more time and flexibility you have, the more opportunities there may be for you to get involved.

With an expected 25,000 volunteers, accommodation is a major consideration. Although pre-arranged accommodation is not a pre-requisite, we would strongly recommend it.

You must be 19 years old on or before September 1, 2008 to apply for a volunteer role.

We'll be using electronic communication (i.e. the volunteer website, e-mail etc.) to pass along important information. You'll need your own valid e-mail address and access to the Internet.

You must complete and pass an RCMP background check, and any other relevant security clearances to be considered for a volunteer role.

We’re also looking for Sport Event volunteers. You’ll be asked if you’re interested in volunteering for Sport Events on the volunteer application form. Don’t forget to click ‘Yes.’
What it takes Volunteer applications are now being accepted for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Here are two ways you can get involved as an applicant:

  1. Everyone who applies for a volunteer role will become part of the 2010 Champion team. This group of thousands will have special access to the volunteer website On Your Mark, and will be responsible for promoting the spirit of the Games throughout their communities.

  2. Applicants chosen for a Games-time role will join Team 2010. This team will also have access to the volunteer website On Your Mark and will be assigned to a specific volunteer role during the Games.

Both are great ways to get involved with the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
